Business Strategy
Bauxite Alumina Joint Ventures has a dual vision – to export bauxite and complete feasibility studies for the potential development of an alumina refinery in the South West of Western Australia. This vision and business strategy has two key areas:
Alumina Refining:
To carry out a feasibility study into the potential construction and operation of an alumina refinery with designed output capacity not less than 1.1Mtpa.
Direct Shipping Ore (DSO):
The exportation of high quality bauxite DSO to overseas customers.
Bauxite Alumina Joint Ventures has a tenement area of approximately 24,000Km2 for bauxite exploration across the Darling Range in South West Western Australia.
BAJV has commenced exploration and drilling programs throughout its tenement package.
A review of the historical drilling data, complemented by current drilling results is currently being carried out. This will determine the historical data quality, the resource potential and the potential for further additional exploration work. To see further details of resource announcements please click here.
BAJV is aiming to identify 90 million tonnes of bauxite resource through exploration by the end of 2013.
A scoping study for the development of an alumina refinery has commenced. The outcomes of this study will be used for pre-feasibility studies and a bankable feasibility study. The bankable feasibility is estimated for completion by the end of 2013.
As a progressive Joint Venture, BAJV embraces its opportunities with social and environmental responsibility. The focus is on developing a sustainable, long-term business asset that provides opportunities and long-term value for the Western Australian community.
